An architect by training and a graduate from the University of Navarra in Spain , Miguel have been working in the humanitarian field since 2017 supporting people affected by natural disasters and conflicts. He currently works for a non-profit organisation based in Stockholm.
In 2023, Miguel became the winner of the First prize of €5,000 in BE OPEN’s Design Better Energy competition for the prototype of BOTIJO, a new take on a traditional Spanish porous clay vessel used to cool water. Miguel’s prototype allows cooling the contents of the Botijo below 5ºC by boosting the drying of the outer surface with an air flow. The BOTIJO is the first passive fridge that preserves medicines and fresh food in stable thermal conditions.
